Why Carrick said: Spurs a 'major threat'

United’s unbeaten league run will be put on the line on Sunday against ‘the best Spurs team we’ve seen for a while’, according to Michael Carrick.
The midfielder has been impressed by the way Tottenham have juggled league and European commitments this term and is expecting a typically testing, exciting game against his old side at White Hart Lane.
"I expect them to pose us a few problems – it's always tough when we go there, though it's normally a good football match too," the 29-year-old said.
"They have some major threats in their team, particularly in wide areas with Gareth Bale and Aaron Lennon. [Luka] Modric has been in good form, as has [Rafael] van der Vaart, who has weighed in with a good few goals this season.
"I think you have to say it's the best Spurs team we've seen for a while. They've gone into the Champions League and been very successful and they've managed to balance that with the league, which is a tough thing to do, especially when you're not used to it."
Carrick is happy to see the likes of fourth-placed Spurs and second-placed Manchester City challenging the usual suspects for the title, though he insists United’s main focus is on winning and staying top of the table this weekend.
